beyond the gray sky.

driving home today and was thinking of you
listening to my ipod, knowing you've been a little blue
and so....
um....
i dedicate this song to my friend hannah
because she likes orange mango, macha, and banana!

It is a gift I know
A moment of bliss that we hold
A firecracker flash of light
And then on to the next plane, soul remain
Come along, if you dare
It's gonna be that you're scared
Lovely life I thank you
For the reason to see the pain through

Light a candle for the dead
The wick is burning, returning what we have
It's who we are
We'll reach you if you're beyond the furthest star

Don't give up the fight to stay alive and even if you have to
Find the reason of another's pain if they lose you
If not for yourself then those around who care
Like I do
One day you'll see the clear blue

Beyond the Gray Sky
Light a candle...
The wick...
It's who we are...

One day you'll see the clear blue
Beyond the Gray Sky

(Note: I edited out the last four lines because I am pretty sure they are about a friend he lost and I have you and to me, the song isn't so tragic.)

Beyond the Gray Sky, 311

Oh, and I love you.  And I'm hungry!  And HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

the war has already been won.

I've been working through different aspects of my faith recently.  One of the things I've felt the need to think through was my newfound need to cling to God's word, His presence, His grace.  Been a Christ-follower for a long time, but lately have been longing for Jesus with a desire stronger than ever before.  So what's the deal?

As I drove home from work this afternoon, I had my iPod playing on shuffle.  "We Win" by David Crowder Band came on (sometimes I think my iPod is guided by the Holy Spirit... ; ) ) and I found myself getting so emotional.... which is weird... I'm not the biggest fan of the music in that song....  But anyways....

I realized that the lyrics were getting me so worked up.  This idea that one day, all the pain and nastiness and mean people and hatred and evil.... will be gone.  Think of the meanest, most hurtful things that could have possibly happened to you in your lifetime thus far.  Gone!  The pain of this world as the result of our sin will vanish one day because the bottom line is: WE WIN.  Sin, death, and evil have no chance because it's already done.  The death, burial, and resurrection of our Messiah sealed the deal.

Hallelujah!

We're gonna shout loud,
loud until the walls come down
Shout loud,
loud until the walls come down
Loud until the walls come down

We're gonna shout loud,
loud until the final sound
Shout loud,
loud until the final sound
Loud until the final sound

Because we've already won
And you don't have a chance
Yeah, we've already won
No you don't have a chance
IT'S ALREADY DONE
And you don't have a chance
Because we've already won!
We have already won!

We Win, David Crowder Band

chatter.

gossip:

a  person who habitually reveals personal or sensational facts about others
a rumor or report of an intimate nature
a chatty talk
the subject matter of gossip
life at work
something i absolutely must separate myself from
done.

"Gossip is idle talk or rumor, especially about the personal or private affairs of others.  It forms one of the oldest and most common means of sharing facts and views, but also has a reputation for the introduction of errors and other variations into the information thus transmitted.  The term also carries implications that the news so transmitted (usually) has a personal or trivial nature, as opposed to normal conversation."

trust.

I haven't had much to talk about lately.  I am, however, doing a Beth Moore study called "The Patriarchs, Encountering the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."  Sometimes I have a love for the Old Testament that I cannot explain.  Perhaps it comes from the fact that I feel so challenged by it.  Anyway, I'll probably be posting a lot of the awesome things I read and today will be one.

Upon reading the story of Abram and Sarai's trip to Egypt (you know, the one where Abram has Sarai lie and say that she is his sister so that he will not be killed for her beauty.... God sends a plague on Pharaoh's house.... Pharaoh confronts Abram because he knows the plagues have been sent because he took another man's wife for his own so he sends them both away....) Beth asks the reader what Abram could have done differently.  She then offers a quote from F. B. Meyer, asks the reader to absorb it then apply it.

"How much better would it have been for Abraham to have thrown the responsibility back on God, and to have said, 'Thou hast brought me here; and Thou must now bear the whole weight of providing for me and mine: here I will stay till I clearly know what Thou wilt have me to do.'  If any should read these lines who have come into positions of extreme difficulty, through following the simple path of obedience, let them now look at God through difficulties, as we see the sun shorn of splendour through a fog; but let them look at difficulties through God.  Let them put God between themselves and the disasters which threaten them.  Let them cast the whole responsiblity up on Him.  Has He not thus brought you into difficulties, that He may have an opportunity of strengthening your faith, by giving some unexampled proof of His power?  Wait only on the Lord, trust also in Him... He will provide."

hello love.

I love love love love love love love love love waking up to a cool, leaf-turning morning. And I love going to the grocery store & seeing festive Halloween cupcakes & cookies, grilling hot dogs on a fire pit, drinking a caramel apple spice, going to a bookstore & buying books. Taking my dog for a walk through some cornfields. Fall just makes everything better. I think we can all agree on this. I wish I could take pretty pictures to capture the beauty of fall... but I can't so I'm sure you'll understand if you just go outside on this lovely & most beautiful day.
